This a great exercise that will help you develop the strength to do regular, full hang pullups. Use a bar that is within reach while standing. Jump up, pulling your chest to the bar. Then slowly lower yourself down until arms are completely straight. Don't use your legs at all during the lowering portion. This is the whole point of the exercise. That may mean you have to bend at the knees to keep them from touching the ground.
