I had a broken Western Digital MyBook Essential 160GB so I took it apart and installed the hard drive in my PC. It turns out the only problem was the USB connector on the enclosure. So a word to the wise, if you have WD external hard drive and it breaks, don't fret, put it in your PC. :)
