You probably don't, and yet it is the most widely spoken language in the world! Sure, English is a commom language. But we're not Europe. We aren't a first world country, and even if every single brazilian person could speak a fluent English, it wouldn't mean that they HAVE to, or even that they have to feel comfortable about doing so.
