Chapter 42Part 1*I remembered what Deanna had said for the second time. “Did you ever ask him?” Maybe I should just do it. What would it hurt?]A: No….not really. But I-[My bedroom door flew open and I was cut short. My mom burst in looking frantic.]*M: Oh Alyse, honey, are you alright?! [She sat down on the other side of me and pulled her to her, covering my head with her hands.] Lauryn called me at work and said that I needed to come back, that you needed me.A: Mom, I’m fine now.[My mom released me and looked over my shoulder at Nick. Then she smiled.]M: Oh, I see. I’m sorry to interrupt. [She stood up, a goofy, all knowing smile on her face.] Nick, it’s so nice to see you here again.N: It’s nice to see you too Debbie.M: Well, I have to get back to the office and finish up. You kids have fun. [She winked at me and I cringed. She could be so clueless sometimes. She closed the door behind her at we were alone again.]N: So, you’re really ok?A: Yeah, I’m totally fine. Mostly because you’re talking to me again. [I smiled at him.]N: I’m really sorry about that. I feel really bad.A: Don’t worry about it. I would’ve been mad too.N: You would have?A: Yeah, I…[My phone started ringing. I looked at the screen, hoping for a subject changer. I got one.]A: Hey Cass. [Nick’s eyes widened.]C: Hey gurl, how are you?A: I’m great. [I beamed at Nick, who stood up and made his way to the door. I looked at him with a confused look.]C: That’s good-A: Can you hold on a minute?C: Sure. [I put the phone to my shoulder so that Cassie couldn’t hear.]A: Where are you going? [I said to Nick.]N: Well, I just remembered, Kevin was going out, & Joe’s there alone. He’s kinda..bumed lately, so I don’t want to leave him alone for long.A: Oh..[I didn’t want him to leave. He had just gotten hear, and we hadn’t talked at all in a week.]N: Sorry….[He looked as if he didn’t want to leave either. Then I got an idea.]A: Why don’t you have him come over here, & we can all hang out?N: That’s a great idea! [His face lit up and I laughed.] I’ll go call him.[I finished talking to Cassie, not telling her that Joe was on his way over. Twenty minutes later I hung up with her and went into the living room to see Nick & Joe sitting on the couch, watching tv. I sat down between them.]A: Ah..there’s nothing better than a Friday night with my boys. [Nick smiled, and Joe made a weak attempt. I reached over and pushed one of his cheeks up.] Awh, come on. Why the long face?J: I….I missed you?A: Surrrre….[There was a knock on the door. Alyse checked the clock above the tv; it was almost 10:30. Who would be here at this time?I got up and walked to the door, looking out the peep hole before answering.]A: Hey Deanna, what’s up?D: I just wanted to come by and check on you. [She opened her arms & we hugged.] I wanted to make sure you were okay. You sounded really upset.A: Yeah, well I’m fine now. Thanks though.D: Oh no problem. I also wanted you to meet my sister. [She gestured to the girl standing behind her. When she moved into the light, I saw the resemblance. Haley was only a little bit taller than Deanna.]A: Oh, Haley, right?H: Right, nice to meet you. [She smiled, but looked uninterested.]A: Do you guys want to come in?D: Sure.[I headed to the living room, but stopped when I noticed they weren’t following me. Deanna was standing, jaw dropped, staring at the couch where Nick and Joe were still sitting.]A: Guys, come on! [Nick & Joe turned around. Nick smiled welcomingly at the girls, but Joe just turned back around. I waved the girls in and Haley nudged Deanna from behind.] Guys, this is my friend Deanna, and her older sister Haley. This is Nick and Joe.[Deanna squealed as Nick stood up and shook her hand. Haley just smiled goofily at Joe.]A: I thought she had a boyfriend? [I whispered to Deanna.]D: No she broke up with him at the dance. That’s why she was ok with leaving a little early. -------------------------------------------------------------sorry for all the chapters w/parts haha but when the subjects are like related i dont want to make it a new chapter cuz then it just ends up being really long & it's not like a lot is happening just now so yeah ahahso right now i'm watching the vma's & WHO'S FRICKEN TICKED THAT BRITNEY SPEARS BEAT JB FOR BEST POP VID I MEAN SERIOUSLY SHE'S LIKE THE MOST WASHED UP POP STAR EVER!!!!! ok rant over haha but i am so mad!!! hahanext part tomorrow =] hope you like this one, let me know what you think
